Wolves can consider themselves unlucky after succumbing to late defeat on Monday evening.
The west Midlanders were defeated 2-1 by league leaders Liverpool at Molineux as Jurgen Klopp’s side made it 40 games unbeaten at their unfortunate expense.
Roberto Firmino struck the winner in the 84th minute despite being under the cosh for most of the second period.
Old Gold forward Raul Jimenez had headed home the equaliser just six minutes after the break but it wasn’t to be, although substitute Diogo Jota squandered a golden chance in injury time to snatch a point, which has left fans baying for blood.
It appears as if his comeback from injury hasn’t gone down well with sections of the home support…
The Portuguese winger was described as ‘awful,’ ’embarrassing’ and as a ‘disaster’ for his cameo role from the bench.
Per SofaScore, Jota managed just 11 touches of the ball, which included two shots off target while he lost possession five times too. His only attempt at a dribble proved to be unsuccessful.
It wasn’t the greatest of returns.
The 23-year-old has been absent through injury for their last five matches and it was telling when he scuffed an easy chance inside the penalty area with just minutes left on the clock.
Fans have been sharing their discontent at the miss…
While others used his showing as an opportunity to throw their weight behind the man that has been deputising in his place, Pedro Neto.
Many are starting to believe that the young 19-year-old is simply the better option out wide.
One supporter even claimed that had Neto been on the pitch, then he would have scored that chance.
There was even a comparison to Adama Traore, but not in a good way as one member of the Molineux faithful said he was turning into the Traore of last season – a player that was often slammed for his lack of end product by members of the media.
Whilst another added that Jota just wasn’t on the same level as the Spanish winger and Wolves’ top goalscorer, Jimenez.
