West Ham are slowing getting into gear with their summer business as the east Londoners look to vastly improve on a poor first season at their new London Stadium home.
Having left Upton Park, the Hammers invested in 13 new signings last summer – the majority of which made no impact on Slaven Bilic’s side over the course of their first season with the club.
This time around they are taking things slow and targeting proven Premier League quality, having brought in two title winners in Pablo Zabaleta and most recently England ‘keeper, Joe Hart.
The shot-stopper, who spent last season on loan with Italian side Torino, joins the Hammers on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent deal in a year’s time, and it seems it wasn’t only Irons fans who were happy with the deal.
Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere, who has been linked with a London Stadium move in the past, tweeted his appreciation to the West Ham fans, quoting the club’s announcement and declaring it a ‘Great signing.’
The injury stricken 25-year-old, who spent last season on loan himself with Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth side, looks to be on his way out of The Emirates this summer, with the club reportedly happy to sell and Sampdoria looking to land a deal.
His endorsement of the deal triggered many Hammers fans to plead with the England international to make the move to east London and kick-start his career…
