Harry Redknapp’s court case is coming to a close, as the jury is deliberating its verdict over whether or not the manager is guilty of tax evasion.
The Tottenham boss and former Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric are facing charges of cheating tax, after it was revealed that investigations have shown that Redknapp had money lodged into a foreign bank account.
This money, deposited by Mandaric, is reportedly from the sale of Peter Crouch, with an amount received by Redknapp after West Ham’s sale of Rio Ferdinand also being scrutinised.
The pair were sent home from court on Tuesday as the jury tried to reach a conclusion, and the deciding panel were urged by judge Anthony Leonard to remove football from their decision making process.
“Football is an emotive subject, stirring in an individual anything from deep passion to resentment,” he said, recorded by Sky Sports.
“This case is not about football but about allegations of tax fraud.”
Redknapp and Mandaric will return to Southwark Crown Court on Wednesday, as the jury looks to rap up proceedings.
