Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle was disappointed to see his side leave White Hart Lane pointless after they fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat against top-four chasing Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday afternoon.
A Tom Huddlestone rocket in the opening period was enough for the hosts to secure a vital three points and Coyle was downbeat after watching Matt Taylor go close with two goal-bound efforts that were cleared in the nick of time.
Taylor saw a left-footed effort expertly tipped away by the on-song Heurelho Gomes before seeing another cleared off the line by Younes Kaboul after being teed up by Johan Elmander and the Trotters’ tactician feels his deserved deserved more than they got in the capital.
Speaking to reporters, Coyle said:“I thought it was a terrific game, both teams went all out to win the match and it took a wonder goal to separate the teams.
“It was a fantastic strike and we’re disappointed to be leaving with nothing if truth be told. Gomes made a couple of wonder saves in the game and also so did Jussi (Jaaskelainen) so we had to give balance to that.
“I think it’s fair to say we came here and made a real game of it and we have to continue with performances like that.
“I think they certainly felt that they’d put enough into it to certainly leave with a point.”
