The two big games today saw an eventful afternoon at the Hawthorns and an efficient performance from a well-oiled Manchester City machine.
Chelsea made life difficult for themselves, despite being 2-0 up, as they let West Brom back into the game before having John Terry sent off for stopping a clear goalscoring opportunity. Pedro managed to get his first goal in English football, much to the dismay of Manchester United fans and to the glee of Twitter, and Jose Mourinho’s run of losing to managers whose surnames begin with the letter P was put to rest.
City, meanwhile dominated the game at Goodison park against Everton and won the game with a minimal of fuss, given the quality of the team they were playing. Alex Kolarov scored the first and Nasri applied a sumptuous second as City went top of the league, having won three out of three, scoring eight goals, conceding none and playing some lovely football along the way.
Robbed
The unluckiest fan of the week – elated as a last minute equaliser won his bet. Deflated 9 minutes later when he realised it wasn’t actually the last minute!
Lads must be stopped
The Pedro jokes came thick and fast, mostly mocking Manchester United because of their attempts to land the former Barcelona wideman.
Pedro’s good performance, which yielded a goal and an assist for Chelsea today, showed some people that he’ll fit in well with what Chelsea already have.
It all makes sense now
The real explanation for John Terry’s red card this afternoon….
Shock, horror
The day started full of hope and possibility for West Brom today as Tony Pulis tried to add his name to the list of managers who have beaten Jose Mourinho since this time last year. Again.
Happiness is overrated
Aleksandar Kolarov’s goal for Manchester City was all the excuse needed to trot out this classic Christmas message from Blue Manchester’s favourite Serbian!
