Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to react after Roy Hodgson expressed his frustration over the club’s lack of transfer dealings.Following the 1-0 defeat to Derby in the FA Cup, the former England manager suggested that “nothing changes” in regards to the south Londoners’ business in the market.
“Since the summer transfer window we are looking to sign at least one, possibly two strikers, and two full-backs. Nothing changes. I said it a year ago, I said it in the summer, I say it again”
The Eagles spent less than £5m in the summer despite receiving £50m from the sale of Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United, and the need for new faces at Selhurst Park has reached a desperate situation as Hodgson is currently without 11 senior players through injury.
Palace have been linked with a loan move for Everton striker Cenk Tosun, while Derby right-back Jayden Bogle – who impressed for the Rams in their FA Cup win at Selhurst Park – is also believed to be on the radar.
There is still plenty of time left in the winter window to get reinforcements in, although it appears as if Hodgson has already began to lose his patience over Steve Parish and Dougie Freedman’s work behind the scenes – let’s see how the Palace supporters on Twitter reacted to the 72-year-old’s words.
This fan said that the situation is “so frustrating” and that Hodgson “needs backing” – they also went on to say that a takeover “surely” must be on the cards.
Elsewhere, these two fans feel that the former Liverpool manager will “walk” at the end of the season – given the lack of backing he has received, you wouldn’t begrudge Hodgson for doing so.
Furthermore, this pair of Palace fans took aim at those in the boardroom, with one saying that there is “no ambition from above” while another took Hodgson’s words as a way of him saying “I’m not getting the support of the owners”.
It’s the dawn of a new decade in the Premier League, but how much do you know about the last 10 years?
Lastly, this fan named Luke asked where the Wan-Bissaka money has gone, before accusing someone at the club of having their “hands in the till”.
In other news, these Crystal Palace fans were left raging at one “absolutely pathetic” player after the defeat to Derby…
