According to The Daily Mail, Southampton are interested in signing Le Havre forward Tino Kadewere, while Marseille and Lyon are also tracking the striker – the Saints’ south coast rivals Bournemouth are also eyeing up the player.
What’s the word, then?
Well, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side are believed to be following the attacker who is keen to test himself in the Premier League.
Kadewere has netted an impressive 17 goals in 19 Ligue 2 appearances over in France this season, while also grabbing four assists, which has alerted the aforementioned clubs to his talent – Celtic are also said to be interested in the 23-year-old.
The Daily Mail add that Kadewere is valued at around £10m, and also mention that the 5-cap Zimbabwe international prefers to play in the centre of the attack although he can play across the frontline.
In an interview with New Zimbabwe, the striker revealed that he admires Tottenham striker Harry Kane and often watches videos of the England international to try and replicate what he does on the pitch.
“At the level of my position, I admire Harry Kane. He is one of the best strikers in the world and I often watch videos of him to try to replicate what he’s doing on the field.”
Che Adams’ struggles should act as a red flag
While Kadewere’s form so far this season is eye-catching to say the least, it must be noted that his goalscoring efforts are coming in France’s second tier – Ligue 2.
If Southampton did secure the Le Havre man’s signature, it wouldn’t be the first time that the Saints have been convinced by a player performing well in a division below the top-flight.
Southampton moved for Che Adams after the Englishman scored 22 goals for Birmingham in the Championship last season, parting with £15m to bring the 23-year-old to St Mary’s back in the summer.
Significantly, however, Adams has struggled in a red and white shirt, failing to score a single goal in 17 appearances for his new side – all that the Southampton No.10 has to show for his efforts is a single Premier League assist.

The comparisons between Kadewere and Adams are there to be made given their prolific goalscoring ability in the second tier of France and England respectively, but the latter striker’s struggles should act as a red flag in Southampton’s pursuit of the Zimbabwean.
